Impact Network NI recognised at the Pride of Place Awards 2026
Impact Network NI in Randalstown and Monkstown Boxing Club were both runners up at the IPB Pride of Place Awards, recognising their outstanding commitment to strengthening communities and improving lives.
Impact Network NI was Runner Up for the Community Wellbeing Initiative category, while Monkstown Boxing Club was Runner Up in the Community Youth Initiative category.
Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council said: “Both awards recognise the organisations’ outstanding contributions to community life, highlighting how their commitment to inclusion, personal development and wellbeing creates opportunities for people to build confidence, develop new skills and strengthen their connections with others. Their work reflects the spirit of the Pride of Place Awards, which celebrate the vital role of communities and voluntary organisations in creating positive, lasting change across Ireland.”
Based in Randalstown, Impact Network NI works across Northern Ireland to build stronger, more inclusive communities by bringing people and organisations together to address local needs. Working in partnership with residents, community groups, voluntary organisations and public sector bodies, it develops practical, community-led solutions that encourage participation, strengthen relationships and improve health and wellbeing.
Through its programmes, workshops and collaborative initiatives, Impact Network NI tackles social isolation, helps people experiencing disadvantage to access support and creates opportunities for individuals to connect, develop confidence and contribute meaningfully to their communities. The organisation also supports community capacity building by providing guidance, resources and development opportunities for local groups and community leaders. With a focus on inclusion, collaboration and suicide prevention, its work helps foster supportive networks, build resilience and ensure that more people feel valued, connected and able to participate in community life.
Founded in 1983, Monkstown Boxing Club has spent more than four decades supporting young people both inside and outside the ring. Open six days a week, the Club provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment where young people can improve their health and wellbeing, build friendships and develop confidence through boxing, fitness, afterschool activities and summer enrichment programmes.
Going beyond sport, the Club has developed a range of initiatives designed to help young people overcome challenges and realise their potential. Since 2012, its pioneering ‘In Your Corner’ programme has supported young people who are disengaged from, or at risk of disengaging from, mainstream education. Through mentoring, educational support, wellbeing activities, youth leadership development and employability programmes, the initiative helps participants develop essential life skills, explore positive opportunities and build brighter futures. Supporting more than 250 young people each week, the programme takes a holistic approach to personal development, recognising the importance of providing encouragement, guidance and consistent support.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Henry Cushinan said, “I am delighted Monkstown Boxing Club and Impact Network NI have been recognised at the Pride of Place Awards. Both organisations make an invaluable contribution to our Borough and beyond, creating opportunities for people, strengthening community connections and improving lives.
“Their commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and supporting others demonstrates the very best of community spirit. I congratulate everyone involved in both organisations and thank them for the dedication and passion they bring to their work. They are a real source of pride for our Borough.”
