Schoolchildren invited to enter Santa's Star Search competition
There’s a chance to win a voucher and turn on the Christmas lights this year
The countdown to Christmas is on, and primary school children across Antrim and Newtownabbey are being encouraged to get creative and take part in ‘Santa’s Star Search’ Christmas Competition!
Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is inviting young budding artists to design their very own Christmas star for the chance to win a £50 voucher and a magical opportunity to join Santa on stage to switch on the Christmas lights at one of the Borough’s seven festive events.
Whether it’s sparkling with glitter, bursting with colour or inspired by a little Christmas magic, children are encouraged to use their imaginations to create a star that captures the spirit of the season.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Henry Cushinan commented, “Santa’s Star Search is a fantastic opportunity for children across the Borough to get creative and be part of our Christmas celebrations. I encourage everyone to let their imaginations shine, for a chance to win a £50 voucher and switch on the Christmas lights this year.”
Entering couldn’t be easier! Children can download an entry form from antrimandnewtownabbey.gov.uk/follow-the-star and submit their completed design by leaving it in Santa’s Post Box at Mossley Mill or Antrim Civic Centre, or by uploading it online.
The closing date for entries is Monday 9 November at 12 noon, so there’s plenty of time to get creative and make a star that shines bright!
The competition is part of the Council’s Follow the Star celebrations, which will bring festive entertainment, family fun and Christmas Light Switch Ons to communities across the Borough from 19–28 November. Events will take place in Crumlin, Randalstown, Antrim, Glengormley, Monkstown, V36 and Ballyclare.
