Two local teams were in action at the weekend

FC Moylena took the derby honours at the Forum on Saturday after securing a 3-1 victory over Abbeyview in a BSML Division Two clash.

Scott McCaig bagged a double and Luke Allen was also on the scoresheet for Moylena, who proved the more clinical side in a scrappy encounter with few chances on offer.

Defences were on top from the start as both sides struggled to create openings, but Moylena made the most of a rare opportunity five minutes from the break.

Luke Allen beat the offside trap to move clear on goal and the striker kept his composure to slot past keeper David Gyle from eight yards.

Abbeyview upped the tempo at the start of the second half but they were thwarted by the Moylena backline and keeper Jamie Magowan, who produced an excellent display on his return to the team.

It was Moylena who struck next after 61 minutes - McCaig curled a low free-kick round the wall with the ball hitting the inside of the post before nestling in the net.

Abbeyview kept plugging away and Adam Foster hit the woodwork before they pulled one back on 85 minutes when Jordan Foster headed home at the backpost from Corey Vance's cross.

It set up a tense finale but Moylena sealed the points a minute from time as Jack Walshe slipped in McCaig and the teenager fired into the bottom corner from a tight angle to complete his double.

Moylena return to the Forum on Saturday with Ballykeel their opponents in a Division Two game - kick-off is at 10:15 and all support is welcome.

Meanwhile, it is back to the drawing board for Abbeyview with hopes for improvement next week.
